Art On Scene’s Group Show Gallery: Back To School Special
West Hollywood, 05 August 2017 – Jackie the French reporter went on the hunt on Sunset Boulevard to find some new, up-and-coming artists at the ArtOnScene boutique gallery for their Back to School Special Group show.
According to their website, “ArtOnScene is a full service art gallery located on the Sunset strip in the city of West Hollywood. Owned and operated by Kimberly Michelle Cales and Ashleigh Fugit. ArtOnScene exists to collaborate with emerging, mid-career and established artists around the globe to further develop their brand.”
Emerging pop music talent, Brittany Glodean attended because: “ I just came to show my support to all different types of art; I’m an artist, recording artist, so I just love to come, see people’s creativity and it’s so inspiring and I just love it!
Some of the artists we spoke to included Jordan Semprevivo, a photographer and artist who shoots both portraits and landscapes, occasionally manipulating the images in Photoshop to create scenes you can only fantasize about. “I first came to this gallery about a year ago to see one of my favourite artists, Brad Crawford, who is actually here tonight. I showed him my work, they saw my work, they really wanted me to be a part of the show.” Describing his work for the show, Jordan explains: “On each of my pieces I have a frame, and on that frame I have written in calligraphy the title of that piece, and so the thought process behind each of my pieces is, I come up with a quote. Because I don’t really want to just slap on a simple, one word title. I want to give the title as much life as the piece.”
Kate Kelton, a Canadian artist, model and actress put it all in a nutshell, saying: “Art will set you free. That there is something so beautiful about the passion behind everybody who has sat down to face that blank canvas. Because creating something out of absolutely nothing, it’s pure magic.” Her exhibition on the evening drew much interested attention, to which she responds: “Basically, I’m just making it up as I go along! It was fantastic seeing somebody read deep, beautiful meaning into it, but honestly, it just sort of comes out of my fingertips the way that it is delivered on the canvas.”
