7th Annual Experience Strength & Hope Awards Show
Jackie, the French reporter, was on the red carpet at the 7th Annual Experience, Strength & Hope Awards Show. The event was held in honor of Mackenzie Phillips for her memoir, “High on Arrival.”
Phillips, 56, is a former star of the ‘70s-’80s sitcom, “One Day at a Time.” In her tell-all book, “High on Arrival,” Phillips, the daughter of rock star John Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas, writes about the brutal, drug-filled life she had as a child. She sheds light on the horrors she has had to face due to her lifelong battle with drug addiction and her near fatal-overdoeses. She also reveals the ugly truth behind her 10-year consensual sexual relationship with her father
The Experience, Strength & Hope Award is given in recognition of an individual’s honest memoir, including their journey through addiction to recovery, and their dedication and enthusiasm for carrying the ‘message’ to a society awash in addiction (writersintreatment.org).
The 7th Annual Experience, Strength & Hope Awards Show was hosted by Ed Begley, Jr. (Portlandia, Best in Show). Special guests included comedian Alonzo Bodden, singer Elizabeth Edways, Bob Forrest (Lead vocalist for Thelonious Monster and television eprsonality), Tony Denison, and many other celebrities.
All net proceeds go to the health and wellness REEL Recovery Film Festival and Symposium which showcases filmmakers who make honest films about addiction, alcoholism, behavioral disorders, treatment and recovery.
