The Rape Foundation’s Annual Brunch
WHQ’s was on the red carpet at the Rape Foundation’s annual brunch at Greenacres, The Private Estate of Ron Burkle on October 4, 2015 in Beverly Hills, California. The event was held in order to raise awareness, support and funds for the victims of rape abuse.
According to The Rape Foundation’s website, nearly one in five women in the United States has been raped. 80% of these women were raped before the age of 25. One in six boys is sexually abused before the age of 18. Youths ages 12-17 are more than twice as likely as adults to be sexually assaulted. 80% of youths experience peer sexual harassment during their middle school or high school years. One in five college women is raped while they are in college. The majority of rape victims and sexually abused children know their assailants. Most victims – children and adults – remain silent because of shame and fears about the consequences of telling. Many victims who disclose their abuse experiences encounter victim-blaming attitudes.
The Rape Foundation was founded in 1989 and it brings state-of-the-art, comprehensive care to rape victims and sexually abused children. They provide prevention programs to reduce the incidence of these crimes, and give training to victim service providers to enhance the treatment victims receive wherever they turn for help.
During the brunch, Jackie spoke with the Rape Foundation’s president Gail Abarbanel about the foundation and the care it provides for rape abuse victims.
Jackie also talked with A-list celebrities such as Jane Fonda, Rosanna Arquette, Zoe Sidel, David Schwimmer, KaDee Strickland, Beth Behrs, Judd Apatow, Christina Hendricks, Eric McCormack, Leslie Mann and many others.
The luncheon was quite a success and we were honored to be a part of such a great cause.
