Jackie the French reporter was on the red carpet at the Beverly Hills Hotel in support of the 18th Annual ‘Shane’s Inspiration Gala’ (aka: The Greatest Playground Reimagined), took place.
Jackie spent the evening speaking with organization members, as well as celebrity advocates, and other contributors and supporters.
Jackie first had the pleasure of speaking with Georgianna Junco-Kelman, Esq (Special Needs Attorney, Law Offices of Kelman and Kelman), who serves on the organization’s board of directors. Georgianna explained to Jackie that the mission behind Shane’s Inspirations is to create a bias-free world for disabled children by creating accessible, full inclusive playgrounds and educational programs that bring together children of all abilities.
Jackie then met up with Founder Scott Williams who explained that he was inspired to create this organization due to his son Shane Alexander’s disability. Scott stated, “My eyes were opened by my son to the fact that nobody wants to be treated like they’re special, nobody wants to be treated like, you know, they have special needs. A kid just wants to play like a kid.”
Jackie also spoke with ‘X-Factor’ star and musical artist, Emmanuel Kelly who was in attendance. Kelly is a huge supporter of this organization because he believes this foundation is helping to change lives. Kelly knows all too well about the love and support of life-changing people and organizations such as this one. As an infant, Kelly was abandoned in Iraq by his parents but was later rescued from an orphanage.
Jackie spoke with many other attendees such as Tap Dancer Evan Ruggiero, who lost his leg to cancer; publicist Nikki Pesusich; actor John Tucker; Russian dancer and Emmy nominated choreographer, Dmitry Chaplin; and many more.
Carrie Ann Inaba (“Dancing with the Stars”, “The Talk”) and Scott Williams (Founder, Executive Producer for “NCIS”) co-hosted the event.
Funds raised by this event will support the costs associated with Shane’s Inspiration’s programs that teach compassion and acceptance towards people with disabilities.
The event was a success and we were so happy to be in attendance. We hope to see you all again next year!
