Ulloo 42 Launch Event
Los Angeles, 14 January 2018 – Jackie, the French Reporter, joined best friends Suzanne Currie and Lisa Abraham on the red carpet launch of their inaugural Ulloo42 collection this past Sunday.
Ulloo 42 is a labor of love endeavor for the friends, as artist Suzanne and business visionary Lisa took the next logical step in putting Suzanne’s reinvented high-end furniture with artistic flair into the public domain for others to take home and enjoy. The philosophy driving the process is the belief that previously loved high-end home furnishings are worthy of transformation.
Suzanne tells us of the origins of Ulloo42: “I had this job at this second-hand furniture store, and I thought ‘Oh my gosh, I could do all these cool things with this furniture!’ So one day my friend here was back from Europe and we were having breakfast, (and) I said ‘Oh my gosh, all these lovely things I see, I could do things, I have these ideas,’ and she said ‘Well why don’t you?’ and I said ‘Well, I don’t have that kind of cash to just throw at that right now,’ and she said, ‘Well I can help with that!’ So literally the next day we started.”
Newton Mayenge told us: “You know why I love these pieces? I’m African, my parents are from the Congo and Suzanne, she’s actually from South Africa and her pieces are African pattern and African influence, so I really, really am excited about these pieces.”
Some of the pieces on display included redesigned chairs (the Storyteller Chair and Aquavelvet Chair) sofas, tables, lighting (including the Frenchie Lamp, the Seraphim Lamp, and the Empire Lamp), and even original wall art.
Certainly, Blake Cooper Griffen found something in there to add fun in the form of functional art to his newly redecorated home. “I have a big space but it’s not a lot of rooms. I needed someone to, like, create different spaces within my condo. It’s kind of created a new labor, a new passion for furniture. Maybe I’ll see a couple of things to finish it off.” We’re sure you did, Blake!
A special thank you to Jane Owen at Jane Owen Public Relations for making the event such a success!
