It is that time of the year again where Jackie the French Reporter indulges in our favorite event! The 28th Annual Movieguide® Awards was held at the notable Avalon Theater in beautiful Los Angeles, California. The Movie Guide Awards was founded by Dr. Ted Baehr, author of How To Succeed in Hollywood (Without Losing Your Soul).
The Movie Guide Awards highlights positive, wholesome content lacking in recognition from the traditional spotlight of Hollywood. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not comprehend it. (John 1:5) Starting with only one movie with positive faith-based content and six family film, God turned into 64% of movies now having faith-based content. Ted is a true gift for faith believers to unite and walk in the light that shines within.
Jackie had a beautiful greeting by entrepreneur Master P and son Romeo Miller. Overcomer actress Aryn Wright-Thompson also graced us with a few words about The Movie Guide Awards following Emma Deckers from Natural Disasters and Madeline Carroll from I Can Only Imagine.
Alex Kendrick, film writer, producer, director and actor explains why he’s back for the fourth time to an event with such high principles and morality. Shari Rigby from Overcomer stops by to tell us why she and many others in Hollywood (including us, of course) love Ted and his family for the one of a kind event. American media critic Dr. Ted Baehr expresses his joyfulness of the growth of the platform and the difference being made in Hollywood. Producer Micheal Lloyd gives us insight into the importance of films with positive messages.
Jackie was blessed to speak with honoree Kathie Lee Gifford and get words of wisdom on how she survives within the business. Kathie gives great advice on how to have daily dates with Our Savior. It was a true highlight of the night to be in the presence of someone with a lasting legacy and long list of involvement in Hollywood including singer, songwriter, actress, author, and most notably, presenter and host. She is a trendsetter for us all.
Colton Dixon, the sublime singer, had us all moved with his performance to his new single. With Jackie, he gives background on what this song means to him and why it is important. He reminds us of the importance of life and how God does miracles daily. Colton gives us fun, faith-based music with a unique sound.
Some awards that were given out were the Epiphany Prizes® for inspiring Movies & Television, the Grace Prizes® for Movies & Television, The Faith & Freedom Awards® for Movies and Television, Best 2019 Movies for Families, and Best 2019 Movies for Mature Audiences. In addition to those great awards, the glory was given by Dr. Baehr as he presented a $25,000 prize to the Best 2019 Family Movie.
Matthew 18:20 says, For where two or three gathers in my name, there am I with them, and a strong army was present at the Movieguide® Awards. It was an honor for us at The Watson Headquarters to connect with so many believers walking in His image. A hearty thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Howie Simon, who did a fantastic job organizing the red carpet. You truly are a blessing!
The 28th Annual Movieguide® Awards will broadcast on Hallmark Channel at a later date.
